4th
Just a quick update.
Yes, I’m still in LA. I never seem to be able to leave this crazy city. Even with all its faults, it’s still one of my favorite places to be. I don’t care about the superficiality, the traffic, or the so-called smog problem. the If this nomad could have a home, Los Angeles would be it. As The Decemberists once said:
How I abhor this place
Its sweet and bitter taste
Has left me wretched, retching on all fours.
Los Angeles, I’m yours.
Yeah, I love that line – and I love this city.
Anyway, happy Fourth to all my American readers! I spent the day bumming around at Johnny’s (as usual), and then I went to the beach at Playa del Rey and caught a spectacular fireworks show and some beers with friends. It was great to get back into that beach vibe – I always get nostalgic for my Isla Vista days of sunshine, sand, and copious amounts of beers with bikini-clad women… ah, the glory days.
After the fireworks, I met up with Soolin for a quick second. She is off to Canada to meet a cruise ship, where she will be working for the next few months, and I’m taking her car on a quick jaunt through Vegas and who knows where before I end up back in San Francisco in the next week or so.
I picked up the car and headed back to LA, sitting in the post-fireworks traffic on the 405 – good times. On the way, I grabbed a bottle of Sebastiani cabernet and here I am, back at Johnny’s, half way through that bottle, and updating my blog.
Lame?
A little.
Boozey?
You’re damn right.
