After a few days of chilling out by the lake in the picturesque town of Wanaka, some friends and I decided to hike to the top of Mount Roy. the trek took the whole day, and it certainly took a lot out of us. We were vastly unprepared for the journey…

The little township of Franz Josef doesnt have much. There is one small market, 2 bars, and a couple of backpackers hostels. But this sleepy little two road town is home to one of the biggest tourist draws on New Zealand’s West Coast: The Franz Josef Glacier.

The center of New Zealand is located on the 42nd longitudinal parallel, and thats where the NZ vodka brand, 42 Below comes from. it is a stong, clean vodka, made using water pumped up from under an extinct volcano — very pure.

A friend’s Bungee jump — yeah, I’m a wuss… but not really — I did a skydive in Israel last year for Christ’s sake (ha! Christ…Israel…sorry) I’m just traveling on a budget that includes copious amounts of booze, and no jumping out of or off of things…
