Spendy Spas and Luxury Estates in Northwestern England

Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa

I was recently asked to write an article about Spas in England, a subject that, as a backpacker, I’m not incredibly well-versed in. But while researching the subject, I found some really incredible places to take spa breaks in North West England where you can relax in elegant luxury in the countryside, in Hogwarts-esque buildings.

The Spa Naturel at Mercure Blackburn Dunkenhalgh Hotel and Spa is not only a mouthful to say, but it’s an eye-full to take in! The building looks more like a castle, than a hotel and spa, so it should be no surprise to find out that it’s over 700 years old. The Mercure Blackburn DUnkenhalgh is located only 4 miles from Blackburn Station, and 40 miles from Manchester airport, so it’s not far from civilization, but it’s set on 17 acres of pristine landscaping, and you’ll feel like a king at this ritzy retreat! Of course, they also offer just about every kind of spa treatment that you could imagine. This kind of luxury comes with a price, but they do have affordable day-spa packages that could be just right for the backpacker who wants to splash out for the day.

Another similar spot is the Leisure & Spa at Crewe Hall, a QHotel. This castle-like building is nestled in the forest to the north of the Crewe Hall estate. The location has recently been refurbished and launched and their new spa and fitness center is top-of-the-line! You might come for the spa treatments, but you’ll stay for the stunning estate. As they say at Crewe Hall, there’s lots to do, but you might consider doing nothing and just soaking up the serenity!

Sure, a weekend of lavish living in a countryside castle might not be in everyone’s budget, but there are some amazing places to see in Northwest England, and it’s well worth a visit to the area. You’ll find some incredible historic building that have been painstakingly restored to their original splendor – and many of them have been converted into hotels and spas, often with a day rate. So you can relax and bask in the glamorous splendor of the region, without completely breaking the bank. Whether you’re looking for an a spendy spa getaway at a countryside estate, or a Massage in Manchester, you’re sure to enjoy yourself in Northwest England.
