It’s hard to believe, but I’ve been technically homeless for over a year now. My lease in LA ended in December of 2006, and since then, I’ve been couch surfing around the states and gallivanting all over the globe for various reasons. 2007 was an awesome year for me, and I think it really deserves a bit of a retrospective, so here’s the rundown:
Justin Jones’s Where I Traveled in 2007!
Might as well start with New Years Eve 2007 — I spent the night partying in a private booth at the swanky Cabana Club in Hollywood with Kenny, Murph, and various others – My Ex showed up, we got into a fight for who knows what drunken reason, and I ended up stealing a bottle of Kettle One and walking home (over 4 miles!) — yeah, i was drunk and stupid.
In January, I took off for London on assignment from Student Traveler bummed around for a few days before hitting the road with a Contiki trip that took me all over Europe.
A bit of mellow boozing and canal cruising on this (not my first) trip to Amsterdam. I chose to skip the sex show and the pot and hit the Van Gogh Museum sober – and yeah, the sunflowers still speak to me
Bohemian Beers and Burger King with Travel Photographer Geo D Oliver and some friendly travel industry folks. I missed the Glockenspiel again… oh well.
I have no idea what I was doing in Austria… but I’m pretty sure Schnapps was involved and I’m pretty sure I got engaged to a British girl.
Awesome time revisiting Italy. Explored Rome and drank some great wine. Snapped a picture in Pisa. Got lost in Venice. Went Clubbing in Florence.
Just passed through Switzerland, but oh man, it is beautiful. I’d never been in the Winter before, and it’s totally worth it. Epic.
Yeah, the city of lights and too many museums. I decided to skip the Louvre this time and opted to people watch with a cafe au lait and a good friend.
Back to London to chill out for a few days and catch up on my sobriety (sort of).
What an awesome experience. I visited Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Jerusalem, The Negev Desert, and floated in the Dead Sea, skydived outside of Haifa, and 4-wheeled through the desert.
- Los Angeles
After being on the road for so long, it was nice to decompress and reconnect with all my friends in Los Angeles.
- Santa Cruz
A memorable weekend with Chelsea, Ryan, and Claire – boozing on the beach and causing trouble.
Always nice to see my friends in AZ! You know Tuscon is my favorite little city in the US.
- San Diego
PB bar and grill with Micah, D, D2, Liz, et al. Wine and Planet Earth – good friends, great times!
Chelsea had a gig in Cabo San Jose over the Cinco de Drinko weekend, so, I caught a flight down and sneaked in to her all inclusive hotel for a couple nights of tequila and sunshine — good times!
Another Awesome travel experience! Asia is incredible and Malaysia is truly Asia (haha, that’s what their PR slogan says, at least!). Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, and more.
Ran a bunch of promotional travel events in Ohio – a fun trip, and the first time I’d ever been to White Castle! Yes, it’s as good as you’ve dreamed.
- San Francisco
Spent New Year’s Eve 08 in the city with some good friends. we partied until it got weird, and then partied some more.
That’s about it, but I’m sure I left a few out . Wow – I’d say that’s a pretty good year in travel! Especially considering that most people get to travel only 2 weeks out of the year – I’m pretty damn lucky. I’d like to say thanks to everyone who has helped to make this crazy little life of mine possible, and helped me along the way: friends, family, work people, and strangers!
And here’s to another great year in travel!
